The Miami Vice is a 60-minute drama television series produced by Michael Mann starring Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as the two undercover detectives in Metro-Dad Police Department in Miami. The two police undercover agents continued the battle against the illicit drug, prostitution and crime underworld of the city of Miami. The Miami Vice ran on NBC from 1984-1989 with five seasons and reran on the USA Network in 1990. The show drew heavily upon New Wave culture and music unlike the standard police procedural. It is said to be the one of the most powerful television series of all time. A film adaptation of the drama series was released on July 28, 2006 directed by its producer Michael Mann.
