Tales from the Crypt DVD
Tales from the Crypt was a popular American horror anthology series based on several EC Comics series in the 1950's. The show was hosted by the wise-cracking Cryptkeeper, an animatronic ghoulish puppet voiced by John Kassir. Each episode was a single story that teaches morality in the most grim way possible, and many had notable celebrity guest stars such as Teri Hatcher, Joe Pesci, Demi Moore, Martin Sheen, Christopher Reeves and Brad Pitt to name a few. Many famous celebrities, such as Elliot Silverstein, Tom Hanks, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Michael J. Fox, also directed episodes in the series.
Tales from the Crypt ran for 7 seasons (93 episodes) on HBO from June 10, 1989 to July 19, 1996. The series would at times contain graphic violence, profanity, nudity and sexual situations, content that had not appeared in most tv seires up to that time. It was one of the few anthology series to be aired uncut and uncensored, due to the fact that it was on HBO, a premium cable television station.
