Providence was premiered on the 8th of January 1999 and lasted on the 20th of December 2002. It has five (5) seasons with ninety-six (96) episodes. The series was created by John Masius. It follows the life of Dr. Sydney Hansen and his family.
Dr. Sydney Hansen played by Melina Kanakaredes was a known plastic surgeon from Beverly Hills and return to her hometown in Rhode Island, the Providence. She came home for her sister's wedding but unfortunately their mother Lynda played by Concetta Tomei died before the ceremony started. Dr. Sydney decided to leave her glamorous life in Beverly Hills and she returned home to help out her family. She took a job at a local free clinic headed by her friend Dr. Helen Reynolds played by Leslie Silva.
Dr. Syd Hansen deals with her new job while dealing with her distracted warm-hearted father Dr. Jim Hansen played Mike Farrell, a veterinarian who can better relate to animals than to persons, her younger sister Joanie played by Paula Cale, an optimistic single mother, and her younger brother Robbie played by Seth Peterson, a charming bad boy. With all this her mother give her little help and advices through her dreams.
