All in The Family DVD
All in the Family is an influential American situation comedy that revolves around working-class family man Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor), a very outspoken bigot whose viewpoints clash with nearly everyone he comes into contact with. Although crass and down right rude, he is really lovable and has a soft side just beneath the surface. With his is his somewhat dizzy wife Edith whom he calls "Dingbat", his daughter Gloria, and her husband Mike or "Meathead", who constantly sparred with Archie. The series deals with controversial subjects in realistic ways, subjects like rape, sex, homosexuality, death, and other topics that were relevant to the 1970's, especially political strife and inflation.
All in the family's original run was January 12, 1971 to April 1, 1979 on CBS. The series was a top-rated show on American television, and the winner of several prestigious awards including four consecutive Emmy Awards as Outstanding Comedy Series. All in the family is not only the most successful sitcoms in television history, but also one of the most influential (and groundbraking) series of all time, being the first in American television to not shy away from addressing controversial and socially relevant subject issues.
