Captain Planet and the Planeteers was released just in time for the Earth day. It is an American animated and environmentalist television series produced by Andy Heyward, Barbara Pyle, Nicholas Boxer and Robby London which premiered on September 15, 1990 and ended on December 5, 1992. It was developed by Turner Program Services in cooperation with the DiC Entertainment. The series follows the adventures of the five teenagers who work together to encourage people to protect the Earth from destruction. Gaia, the spirit of the Earth requests five teenagers from all ends of the Earth to help in the campaign to protect the environment. He chose Kwame from Africa to held the power of Earth, Wheeler from US held the Fire power, Linka from Eastern Europe has the power of the wind, Gi from Asia held the power of water and Ma-TiHeld has the power of heart.
