The Rockford Files is an American detective drama television series on NBC Channel aired between September 13, 1974 and January 10, 1980 written by Stephen J. Cannell and created by Roy Huggins. The series is about an ex-convict who is turned to a Los Angeles-based private investigator named Jim Rockford (James Garner). The funny thing about Jim is he would rather run away than to fight and would rather go fishing than to go to work. His friends Dennis Becker, a police detective, Angel, his former cellmate and Beth Davenport, his lawyer. It also features Noah Beery Jr. as Jim's father who is a retired truck driver. In 2002, The Rockford Files ranked on the 39th spot in TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of all time. David Shore produced the remake of the series for NBC in 2010 with Demot Mulroney playing the role of Jim.
